Starting 2018 In Style: Five Last-Minute New Year’s Looks

New Year’s always makes me think of my favorite scene in the first Sex and the City movie. Who isn’t a fan of Carrie Bradshaw and her three fabulous friends? You know, the New York natives who are all attractive, sophisticated, and most of all…fun. My mind also goes to the epic New Year’s scene from When Harry Met Sally. You know the one: the clock is ticking and where is Harry? Will he make it in time for the traditional midnight kiss? (Spoiler alert: he does.)

Both of these scenes have great music, gorgeous people, and best of all – New Year’s style. Are you pondering the question of what to wear as we count down to 2018? Here are five fascinating ideas (with specific looks chosen from Seven Oaks shop) to get you excited to ring in the New Year joyfully (and look good while doing it), as well as spice up any occasions on your January calendar.

5. The Black Leather Legging

High Waisted Leather Leggings are a New Year’s must. No matter if you are hitting a neighbor’s house or going dancing with gal pals; these are easy, smokin,’ and – wait for I – oh so comfy. That’s right. These look super sophisticated, but they feel like the yoga wear you threw on to run out this morning for the perfect red lipstick. The best part? They are only $20.

4. The off-the-Shoulder Sweater

Now…what to wear with those leggings listed above? The Piper off the Shoulder Sweater had me from hello. The color and material are so versatile. Pair this with the leggings, cute heels, a fun red necklace, red lips, and low ponytail, and wow! Not hitting the town (or painting it red)? Pair the sweater with loose, holey jeans, booties, and big earrings and still make a statement.

3. The Lace Tank

Baby, it’s cold outside…but a lace tank top makes the perfect layering piece. Check out the sophisticated Stella Lace Tank, which can be paired with the perfect skirt (tucked in), black pants, or gray denim. Wear it on its own in a crowded bar, or pair it with a cute coat when en route to the party. I like the idea of wearing winter white –pairing this with ivory bottoms might just be the perfect way to begin 2018.

2. The Cozy Joggers

Whether running errands before your year-end celebration or cozying up to your hangover on New Year’s Day, it’s important to make room for comfort this holiday. Try these snuggly-yet-stylish Around Town Joggers. They come in heather grey and mocha, and are effortless and warm (an important detail for the cold wind). If you have plans to stay in and snuggle up with a bottle of bubbly (a smart choice), these are also the perfect find.

1. The Statement Coat

In December and January, outerwear sets the tone for everything underneath. You can’t go wrong with a statement coat like the Eleanor Charcoal Jacket. This double-pocket wonder can be dressed up or down. It can be worn all year ’round and is the perfect dark color to go with all sorts of combinations – such as a white button up, graphic t-shirt, snuggly sweatshirt, or lacy tank. I love the idea of wearing this with a dress, too!

No matter where you are when you celebrate the New Year, remember: you are fabulous no matter what you have on. It’s all about YOU as you ring into a new 365 days of possibility. Cheers!
