Fall for Fall

It’s here. For me, the best season of the year has arrived. The months of September through November bring such nostalgia – the gathering of friends, the sound of drums at football games, the sweaters…oh my! Fall fashion is a “yes” for me. The crisp air and cool night breezes call for jackets and booties. I love the layers, rich colors, and warm fabrics.

Where I live, unfortunately, it’s hot until October. So like many, I find September a peculiar month for “what do I wear?” You might have the urge to throw on shorts, but feel like a fraud – it is no longer July, after all, and the latest edition of Vogue has coats on each page. Never fear, I am here to help!

I’ve put together a joy-filled list of pieces from the boutique Seven Oaks that will carry you through this confusing back-and-forth season into the full-fledged autumn. Cozy up with a hot apple cider or cocoa (or a cool, refreshing iced tea, as the case may be) and scroll along with me.

The Eliza top from English Factory is all the buzz right now. Its colorful sleeves and warm-toned white have me raising my hand for “one, please” and adding it to my cart this instant. This top is lightweight for the warmer days of September, but will also look chic under a jacket or long white tee for November’s chills. Another plus? The material is not so clingy, so my craze for pumpkin pie won’t mess with my fashion fortitude.

There are two things you can’t have enough of in your closet: black and white. For darker days, the Hattie Bell top from English Factory is the addition you need. This top is the piece that gives you the sleeve length you need for fall, but it isn’t too warm for those sunny afternoons. I would pair it with a colorful trouser or better yet, a midi skirt and booties.

This Sarah Off the Shoulder top had me at hello. It offers a smooth transition from the pool to the college football game. It will keep you cool at the tailgate, but to transition into fall evenings, pair with a cute coat or super-sleek black leather jacket.

This Eloise Striped Dress has me over the moon. It may seem like summer, but its versatility is its secret weapon. It’s perfect for work on casual Friday, but you can pick it back up for a lazy Sunday afternoon filled with family and errands. I’d wear it with tennis shoes or in jeggings with cute booties. It’s effortless, it’s stylish, it’s the definition of transition.

The Bonfire Sweater from Ann Taylor Loft is the perfect striped look for now and later. Pair this light, trendy, soft sweater with a black skirt to beat the heat. Then when the winter winds roll in, wear it with wool trousers. This is a great on-the-go look for weekend wear or work attire.

Again, don’t sweat (literally) at the thought of what to wear this next month. As long as you have gal pals, wine, and morning coffee…anything is possible. Cheers to a happy fall transition. You got this!
